The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dallas Post 1837 was founded in 1935. The chapter is in district three of the Department of Texas, Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1962, the chapter founded a Junior Girls unit. In 1977, the chapter renamed itself the Audie L. Murphy Ladies Auxiliary to the V.F.W. post 1837.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dallas Post 1837 collection contains two scrapbooks, and materials relating to their Junior Girls unit. The scrapbooks are from Iva Clayton, who has served as president of District Three Ladies Auxiliary and Americanism & Loyalty Day Chairman. These scrapbooks contain photographs, clippings, local and national V.F.W. materials. The collection also contains information on Post 1837's Jr. Girls Unit. Membership applications, club dues, reports and national pamphlets can be found on the Jr. Girls Unit. Essays written by students from W.H. Adamson on patriotism for a Ladies Auxiliary contest have also been retained.
