Administrative History

The Fairview Estates Neighborhood Association was an Austin, Texas organization dedicated to preserving and improving the quality of life in the neighborhood in matters of land use, environmental protection, public services, and consumer protection. The Fairview Estates Neighborhood Association also sought to preserve the unique character and amenities of the community and other matters of neighborhood concern such as traffic control and keeping residents informed of issues vital to the neighborhood. The boundaries of the Association were Williamson Creek to the north, South First Street to the west, Stassney to the south, South Congress Avenue to the east, and Arbor Circle.


Scope and Contents

The majority of the Records consist of administrative materials including bylaws, volunteer lists, financial materials, membership information, sign in sheets, meeting minutes and agendas, surveys, goals, correspondence, and the Neighborhood Planning Guidebook dated from 1979 to 2006. Also included are newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence, petitions, newsletters, and flyers documenting neighborhood concerns and issues. The topics include the Austin Neighborhood Watch program with the Austin Police Department, flooding, the building of a restitution center, speed bumps, the relocation of a Salvation Army inner city transient shelter, zoning information, and other issues concerning the area.
