The talk show features Ada Harden interviewing notable community members about their careers.

Biographical Note

Ada Harden was a native of Austin, Texas. She was an actress and model who appeared in movies, television shows, commercials, and theater productions. Later in life, she took on many leadership roles in the Austin community and was a member of an extensive list of community and faith-based organizations. She actively promoted women's health issues and children's education. After retiring from a job in the Austin Independent School District, she created, developed, co-produced, and hosted a television program called "It's Your Future" that was aimed at teaching children and young adults about the possible career paths they might take. "It's Your Future" was a thirty minute talk show in which Ada Harden interviewed notable community members about their career paths and the tools that they used to succeed. The show was initially sponsored by the Austin Independent School District (AISD) and produced by AISD Media Production Services. It aired on Austin's Cable Channel 8.


Scope and Contents

This collection contains video interviews with 22 Austin-area community members and 3 video profiles of Austin-area businesses conducted between the years 1983-1989. The business profiles consist mainly of interviews with the people who worked at those businesses.

The DVDs in this collection were created in the fall of 2005 by members of the "Survey of Digitization" class at the University of Texas at Austin's Graduate School of Information from VHS copies. The original content would have been produced on 3/4" U-matic tapes.

Arrangement

The DVDs are housed in a single box. They have been recorded and numbered alphabetically by the last name of the person interviewed. Three interviews are focused on particular organizations. These are listed alphabetically by the organization name following the list of episodes focused on people.
