Biographical Note

Timothy Hurst founded Movin' Easy in 1981 to provide Austin, Texas with quality dance wear. Supporting dance companies and advertising their shows is a priority for the store.


Scope and Contents

The approximately 150 posters, flyers and programs in this collection range in date from 1982 to the early 2000s and document a variety of types of dance performances and studios in Austin, Texas. Included are posters, flyers and programs from such dancers/choreographers, studios and organizations as Austin Ballet Theatre, Austin Contemporary Ballet, Ballet Austin, Dance Umbrella, Black Arts Alliance/Black Youth Dance Project, Ballet East, Roy Lozano's Ballet Folklorico de Texas, Heloise Gold, Sharir Dance Company, Jimmy Turner/Deaf Dance Deaf, Sarah Brumgart Dance, Texas National Dance Theatre, Texas Youth Ballet, Deborah Hay, Austin Dance Ensemble, Austin on Tap, Andrea Ariel, Sally Jacques, Ballet Folklorico Aztlan, Diana Prechter, Austin Contemporary Dance Company, Austin Dance Works, Austin Recreation Center Youth Dance Co., The Children's Dance Theatre of Austin, Flamenco Austin, Lucila Dance Productions, Nerve Dance Co., Slavin Nadal Ballet, and Steel Dance Company.
