Founded in 1987, Austin Filipino-American Association (AFAA) is an organization that promotes Filipino culture and provides community representation and recreation. It formerly operated under the name Philippine American Society of Austin. AFAA began as an informal social group that celebrated holidays and special occasions together. Over time, it grew into a large group that decided to formalize it into a non-profit organization. AFAA organizes various events such as festivals, pageants, and holiday parties. They also put on fundraising events for various causes and disasters and support Asian American endeavors in Austin.

The Administrative Records series (1993-2008) contains profit & loss sheets for years spanning from 1998-2008, meeting minutes from 2004-2008, and other organizational documents such as their by-laws and a membership directory. Also included is a grant application for funds for the Flores de Mayo celebration in 2008 which contains detailed information about the organization’s leadership and financials.
The Events series documents AFAA's various events and contains numerous programs and flyers from festivals, celebrations, parties, and pageants spanning from 1998-2008. In addition, there are planning documents from these events as well as the Mrs. Philippines of Central Texas Binder which thoroughly documents the event with materials related to advertising and sponsorship, financials and judging. Also notable are the photographs and videos from other events such as Pinoy Idol, Flores de Mayo, and Barrio Fiesta.
