	<head>Administrative History</head>
	<p>The Media Communications Association-International (current name) was founded to create recognition and opportunity for those working in the non-broadcast and industrial communication sectors. To that end, it worked to develop uniform technical standards for manufacturers, suppliers, and users of industrial television equipment and services; to forge alliances with professionals working in related fields; and to encourage professionalism in the industry. The original members were drawn largely from the production departments of corporations, and secondarily from independent studios. Other early members included broadcast television and radio personnel, and a somewhat smaller contingent working in film. The name of the organization was changed from International Television Association (ITVA) to the current name in 2001 to reflect the growing diversity of its membership, a result of the expansion and convergence of communications technologies in the previous decade.
</p>

<p>The Media Communications Association-International (MCA-I) Austin chapter listed their mission as helping members succeed in their professional and personal growth in the visual communications industry. Programming included presentations and workshops on networking/marketing and technical developments in the visual communications field. The Austin chapter dissolved in 2005.</p>

	<head>Scope and Contents</head>
	<p>The Media Communications Association-International (MCA-I) Austin records consist of materials that document the organization and activities of the professional organization from 1991 to 2005. The majority of the records cover the time period when the organization was name the International Television Association (ITVA). The records are organized into four series: I. Administrative Records, II. Financial Records, III. Programming, and IV. Conferences. </p>

<p>The <emph render="bold">Administrative Records</emph> series (1993-2005) includes an ITVA organizational overview and primer, membership information, and chapter leadership resources. In addition there are Board of Directors meeting announcements and minutes for the years 1994 through 1996. Also included in this series is a file titled "MCA-I 2000-2005" which includes Austin chapter administrative materials as well as financial and programming records. Previous years administrative, financial and programming records were filed separately but in an effort to maintain original order the contents of this file were maintained as is rather than divided into similar subdivisions.</p>

<p>The <emph render="bold">Financial Records</emph> series (1991-1997) includes Treasurer's reports and advertising invoices. Treasurer's reports consist of monthly reports to the Board of Directors as well as the twice yearly reports submitted to the ITVA National office and include information about all income and expenses of the Austin chapter. The ad solicitations/invoices file documents the advertising sales for the newsletter.</p>

<p>A single folder with flyers, sign-in sheets and a mailing list make up the <emph render="bold">Programming</emph> series (1992-1998, undated). And lastly, the <emph render="bold">Conferences</emph> series (1997-1998) contains the conference guidebook for the ITVA Regional Leadership Conference in 1997 and PowerPoint presentations and notes for the ITVA International Conference in 1998. </p>
