	<head>Administrative History</head>
	<p>The Women's Symphony League of Austin (WSL) was established on June 18, 1953, with Mrs. Homer Garrison as president. The Constitution states that the object of this organization shall be to promote the interests of the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Fundraising and education are the main focus of the organization. Through the years the WSL has hosted such events as the Jewel Ball, Fashion Show, Designer Showcase, and the Street Dance to raise money for the Symphony. The WSL has also won several awards for <title render="italic">Symphony for Simple Simon</title> booklet and CD which introduces grade schoolers to the music and instruments of the orchestra. </p>

	<head>Scope and Contents</head>
	<p>The majority of the collection consists of scrapbooks created each year by the Women's Symphony League of Austin that documents the activities of both the WSL and the Austin Symphony Orchestra. The scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, photographs of events and WSL members, programs, posters, flyers, club yearbooks, correspondence, meeting minutes, newsletters and other ephemera. The scrapbooks cover the years from 1953 to 2005 with a few missing years. In addition there is a complete set of WSL yearbooks from the years 1953-1987 and a variety programs from events such as the Jewel Ball.</p>
