Administrative History

The Alpha Omicron Pi Mothers Club was organized on April 25, 1944 at the chapter house, 304 West Nineteenth Street, Austin, Texas. The Mothers Club was a social organization and not affiliated with the sorority except through their daughters. The purpose of the club was to work in cooperation with the members and officers of the sorority and assist wherever possible. Activities included providing food during rush and finals; presenting gifts, such as the miniature loving cups as awards; entertaining with breakfast following the Christmas formal, and the spring open house. Active members were local Austin mothers and associate members were out-of-town mothers. The organization was active until the summer of 1973 when the University of Texas chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi became inactive.
