Administrative History

The Concordia Neighborhood Association (CNA) is an Austin, Texas organization dedicated to programs and projects which will result in the preservation and betterment of the Concordia area. The boundaries of the CNA are Manor Road on the south, Airport Boulevard on the east and northeast, 45th Street on the northwest, Red River Street on the west. The Association was organized in the late 1970s in response to a massage parlor that opened in their area. The efforts to remove the massage parlor from the neighborhood led to the Austin massage parlor ordinance.

Scope and Contents

The collection includes a small amount of administrative records including bylaws, membership lists, financial reports and event brochures. The bulk of the materials concerns ridding the neighborhood of a massage parlor and adding medians and landscaping to the E. 26th Street Extension project. Included are correspondence with City of Austin council members and employees, press releases, survey results, petitions, City of Austin ordinance drafts and reports, and newspaper clippings.
