The Austin Preschool Mothers Club (APMC) is the Austin area’s independent moms’ group for women navigating the infant-to-kindergarten years. The idea behind starting the APMC originated in a Sunday school class in the University Baptist Church in 1925. The club was founded to serve as a source of pertinent information and incentive to mothers of preschoolers. The official purpose of the club is to:
While the club is not church affiliated, it has called several churches home through the years. APMC has met at University Baptist Church, the Federated Women's Club, Hyde Park Christian Church, Tarrytown Methodist Church, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Grace Covenant Church, Crestview Baptist Church, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Grace Nazarene Church and Northwest Hills United Methodist Church.

The collection contains documents related to the organization, including financial and administrative records, membership records, newsletters, correspondence, and event materials dating from the mid-1980s to 2002. The club split into chapters (by geographic location) at some point in the late 1980s and the records contained in this collection alternately refer to the organization as the Austin Preschool Mothers Club; the Austin Preschool Mothers Club, Central Chapter; and the Central Austin Preschool Mothers Club. It appears that the original organization became known as the Central chapter and the records reflect this transformation. Some of the records in the collection were designated specifically to be Central Austin Preschool Mothers Club (CAPMC) materials but CAPMC records can be found throughout the collection. It appears that the organization has since reverted back to the name Austin Preschool Mothers Club and there are no references to multiple chapters on their current website (accessed 2010).
The collection is arranged into four series that reflect the original arrangement of the materials as donated: Administrative Files, Financial Records, Central Austin Preschool Mothers Club Binder, and Printed Materials. The Administrative Files series (1980-2002) contains board minutes, correspondence, speaker and event information, membership directories and volunteer information. The Financial Records series (1982-1999) includes budgets, insurance documentation and tax materials. The Central Austin Preschool Mothers Club Binder series (1982-2000) consists of the materials that were originally separated into a binder labeled CAPMC and includes board member lists, monthly meeting agendas, board member description sheets, bylaws and amendments, evaluations and surveys and information about the Far Northwest chapter. These materials are foldered in the order that they were found in the binder. The Printed Materials series (1989-2002) contains what looks to be a complete run of the club newsletter for the 1990s and early 2000s as well as the 1989-90, 1990-91, 2000-01 and 2001-02 membership directories. The name of the organization on the newsletter title block changed from Austin Preschool Mothers Club to Central Austin Preschool Mothers Club in the September 1996 issue.
