Pinget Family PapersAn Inventory of the Collection
Administrative HistoryJames Pinget was born in Texas on February 4, 1887 to Maggie (Margaret) and Frank Pinget. Before World War I the Austin, Texas City Directory lists James's occupation as a clerk and he resided at 1609 E. 1st Street with his mother, sister Louise and brother Frank. In 1915 the City of Austin appointed him Sergeant-at-Arms of the Tenth Ward Fire Company No. 8. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1917 and received an honorable discharge in July of 1919. Rosalie (Rosa Lee) Hanley was born in Lockhart, Texas on September 4, 1901 and she attended Austin High School in 1918. James and Rosalie married in 1922 and moved to a residence on Waller Street. They had a son James Joseph on February 1, 1937 and a daughter Kathryn on August 28, 1927. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThe Pinget Family Papers is a small collection of materials from the Pinget family of Austin, Texas dated from 1915-1919 and 1937. Included are the James's military records from World War I as well as the certificate presented to James in 1915 when he was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms of the Tenth Ward Fire Company No. 8 by A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor of Austin, Texas. Also included are the certificate of promotion presented to Rosalie (Rosa Lee) upon her graduation from Allen High School that entitled her admission to the Austin High School in 1918 and the baby book they created for their son James J.
