Administrative History

The vision of Peace Through Pie is to rekindle the pie social as a way to affect positive social change and cultivate the dream of a better community for everyone.

In 1995 Luanne Stovall began serving pie to friends and family to bring them together on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. In 2008 she established the ServeaDream Steering Committee and invited members of Sweet Home Baptist Church to plan the first community Pie Social in Austin, Texas. On January 17, 2009 the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Clarksville hosted the first Dream Pie Social that raised $1000 for a wheelchair ramp. The money was raised through proceeds from the Dream Pie contest, Silent Pie Auction, donations and the sale of pie buttons. In January of 2010 a second Dream Pie social was hosted at the Sweet Home Baptist Church and featured music from the Sweet Home Choir, The Gospel Stars, a Dream Pie contest, Silent Pie Auction, pie-making demo, fundraising for the Sweet Home Restoration Fund, and "Tell Us Your Pie Stories", an oral history of treasured pie memories. The 2010 event was dedicated to Pauline Brown, a longtime Clarksville resident who died in the previous summer.
