Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a handwritten journal containing essays, often on religious topics. The book is inscribed “property of Wallace H. Mather” and also has the name “C.H. Voorhis” on the cover page. A list of the essay titles is provided in the inventory bellow. Several pages at the back of the journal are written in different handwriting and include a treatise titled “Joining Church” that references the writings of Rev. Dr. Theodore L. Cuyler (1822-1909). The presumed age of the journal is based on this reference.

It is unclear how this volume came to the Austin Seminary Archives. It was found in the Library Director’s office in 1993 but had apparently been in the Stitt Library for some time before that.
