Biographical/Historical noteThe Liberty County Historical Commission was organized on January 23, 1967. It was originally called the Liberty County Historical Survey Commission. The creation of the Black History Calendar is the Commission’s first effort to recognize the rich history of African Americans in the community of Liberty County. The first calendar was published in 2000. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Contents noteThe Black History Calendar of Liberty County Collection is comprised of annual calendars jointly produced by the Liberty County Historical Commission and the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center in Liberty, Texas. The calendars were produced to recognize the rich history of African Americans in Liberty County. The years covered by the collection are from 2001-2010. Return to the Table of Contents
