            <head>Biographical note</head>
            <p>The materials and items contained within the Linda Austin Collection are a result of her mother’s graduation from the Franklin Beauty School in 1944, her father’s driver's license from the 1940s and 1950s, as well as materials relating to his membership in the fraternal order of the Eastern Star. There are also newsclippings, programs, and a directory that chronicles the Acres Homes Community and designates it as an historic community for African Americans.</p>

            <p>The Linda Austin Collection, a small collection, contains a newsclipping, photograph, programs, and personal items that belonged to her parents. The materials contained reflect her family history and the significance of certain events and institutions that had special meaning within their lives.</p>
