Biographical note

Lois McCall Brantley was born on April 25, 1907 in Houston, Texas. She attended public school in Houston, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from Prairie View A & M in 1930 and her Masters in Education from the University of Houston in 1947. She was a teacher in the Houston Independent School District during the 1940s at Douglas Elementary. On August 19, 1952, she was appointed the seventh Principal of the Gregory School by the Board of Education. She would remain in this position until her retirement in 1971. In retirement she was recognized for her work and dedication in serving the Harris Country Retired Teachers Association. She was also active in civic organizations, such as the Eldorado Social Club, Tierwester Civic Association, and the Candy Stripers. She passed away at the age of 95, on February 21, 2003.
