Index of books, periodical articles, pamphlets, government documents, maps and atlases in the American Geographical Society Collection of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For earlier years not in the database (1938-1984) this information is available in Current Geographical Publications .

GEOBASE 1980 - present. (SilverPlatter)
GEOBASE indexes journals in human and physical geography, ecology, geology, oceanography, geomechanics and development studies. The database provides current coverage of over 1,700 journals and archival coverage of several thousand additional titles. Most entries include a searchable abstract. In addition to core scientific and technical periodicals, GEOBASE also includes non-English language publications, books, conference proceedings and reports.

Environmental Issues and Policy Index (EBSCO)
Updated regularly. Provides abstracting and indexing information for over 1000 titles in the area of environmental policy and studies.

JSTOR
The JSTOR database includes the searchable full text for backfiles of many scholarly journals. Some of the geographical journals included are: Annals of the Association of American Geographers, Economic Geography, Geografiska Annaler. Series A, Physical Geography, Geografiska Annaler. Series B, Human Geography, Geographical Journal, Geographical Review, Imago Mundi, Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers. In general, the latest five years of a journal are not included in this database, but may be available in another database we subscribe to or in print. Search in the Library Catalog to locate more recent issues.

Major database for business and management providing the full text of around 3,300 electronic journals with abstracts (summaries) for over 300 additional titles. Many of the top scholarly journals are available from 1965, with some going back even further. Covers a wide range of journals including over 1000 peer-reviewed titles as well as trade and weekly journals. An excellent starting point for any search for business information. Also includes full text information such as country economic reports, and detailed company profiles for the world's 5,000 largest companies.
CQ Researcher, October, 1991 - present (Congressional Quarterly)
Updated weekly. Explores a single "hot" issue in the news in depth each week. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and science and technology. Every report is written by an experienced journalist and features comments from experts, lawmakers and citizens on all sides of every issue with numerous charts, graphs and sidebar articles.
Dissertation Abstracts International / Proquest Dissertations and Theses, 1861 - present. (ProQuest)
Updated monthly. Contains more than 1.5 million entries representing the work of authors from over 1,000 North American and European universities. All subject areas are covered. More than 47,000 new dissertations and 12,000 new theses are added to the database each year. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350-word abstracts and citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Dissertations produced after 1997 are also available digitally through Dissertations Abstracts for download by UT Austin affiliated users.
Early Encounters in North America: Peoples, Cultures, and the Environment
1534 - 1850. (Alexander Street Press) Updated quarterly (until completed). Contains early accounts of exploration, discovery, travel, environment, peoples, and cultures in North America. Currently contains 1,076 authors and approximately 83,000 pages of material. When complete the product will include more than 100,000 pages of letters, diaries, memoirs and accounts of early encounters. Particular care has been taken to index the material so that it can be used in new ways. For example, you can identify all encounters between the French and the Huron between 1650 and 1700. The collection is centered on present-day Canada and the United States with some limited coverage of Mexico.

Updated bi-monthly. Covers the geology of North America from 1785 to the present, and the geology of the rest of the world from 1933 to the present. Contains references to geoscience journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports and theses. Includes references to all publications of the U.S. Geological Survey. Masters' theses and doctoral dissertations from U.S. and Canadian universities are also covered.

Updated three - six times a year. Contains citations and abstracts of worldwide literature (excluding the United States and Canada) from approximately 2,100 journals and since 1980, books and dissertations on political, diplomatic, economic, social, cultural and intellectual history and related areas of the social sciences and humanities. Covers history dating from 1450 to the present.

Updated regularly. Contains approximately 240,000 reports on archeological investigation and planning, mostly of limited circulation. This "gray literature" represents a large portion of the primary information available on archeological sites in the U.S.

Readers' Guide Retrospective
1890 - 1982. (Wilson) Contains comprehensive indexing of the most popular general-interest periodicals published in the United States and reflects the history of 20th century America. Covers more than 375 titles.
Updated annually. Indexes over 10 million articles in 3,142 journals. The scope is international and multi-disciplinary, including journals in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and other Western languages. Includes full images of 165 journals and the archive will continue to grow by this amount each year.
