Social Work Research Guide

See the Resources by Subject list for the primary databases for Social Work.

Resources by Subject listings for relevant areas such as Medicine, Psychology, Gender Studies, etc. will direct you to other specialized resources for your topic.

In addition, many multidisciplinary fulltext resources include social work material. These include Academic Search Premiere, Digital Dissertations, LEXIS NEXIS, Expanded Academic ASAP, Statistical Universe and many others.

Some databases provide full-text articles while others are "citation/abstracts only".

If the database you use does not provide full-text:

  • look at the citation for the title of the journal in which the article described appears (sometimes called "source").
  • type the title of the journal into the online catalog UTNetCAT
  • See if the Library offers access to the journal either electronically or in print
  • if your abstract describes a book chapter, search the title of the book in UTNetCAT
