Academic Search Complete -A large interdisciplinary database. Can be useful for adding other perspectives to research.
American Factfinder - A site from the Census Bureau. Allows the user to find demographic information based on geography, including by school district.
*ERIC - contains some government documents related to education, commentary on policy like NCLB. *Start here!
Index to Current Urban Documents - Contains reports from many cities across the united states. Browsable by geography or by subject (including education).
LexisNexis Academic - Contains a large number of newspapers and magazines. This is a good place to look for news about policy issues.
PAIS - A policy database that covers many issues, including education.
ProQuest Congressional Publications - searchable by keyword, contains Congressional hearings, Congressional committee prints, the Congressional record, Congressional Research service reports, and unpublished hearings.
ProQuest Legislative Insight - Gives legislative histories of federal laws. The "Legislative Process" search is especially helpful. It allows the user to search by law number and see any documents related to a law, in chronological order, with a description of what each document is. Try it with No Child Left Behind (PL107-110).
Sociological Abstracts - May contain research about the effects of legislation on society.
Social Explorer - Useful for finding demographics in a specific place and time. Based on census data.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) website contains information on many topics relevant to policy research, including Reports and Data, The Texas Education Code, and No Child Left Behind. Browse the sidebars and menus for other interesting topics.
Texas Legislature Online contains legislative inforamtion from Texas. Search by bill number or with phrases.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) communications and policy topic overview page links to several policy issues. Browse other policy related topics on the sidebar (under "Communications and Policy" and "Data Resources and Tools" especially)
U.T. System Board of Regents index of current policies
Policy Archive is a collection of policy research about many topics. Try using the education topic quick link in the center of the homepage.
