Find Newspaper Articles in Foreign Languages

Find web sites of newspapers organized by country. Most of these sites only provide articles back a short period of time. For older articles, try one of the Library Databases below.

Library Databases

LexisNexis Academic
News articles in Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Choose the News tab, enter your search terms, then choose one of the following categories from the Sources dropdown menu. After you’ve selected a source, be sure to choose an appropriate date range – the default is the previous three months.

Suggested categories under “Sources”:

Factiva
News articles 22 languages including many European languages, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Turkish.

  1. Select the Search Builder option
  2. Click on the arrow next to Language to scroll down and view language options
  3. Click on the language (ex: French) you want to search.
    (Hint: click on English once to remove it from your search parameters).

Paper copies of newspapers are in the PCL Periodicals Room, shelved by country.
