How and where to search for foreign language newspaper articles.

Web Sites

World News page
Find web sites of newspapers organized by country. Most of these sites only provide articles back a short period of time. For older articles, try one of the Library Databases below.

Google News
See the bottom of the page for links to foreign language versions of Google news.

Library Databases

LexisNexis Academic
Choose the News tab on the left and then choose Foreign Language in the menu below.  This will produce a Foreign Language News search form that allows you to limit to news sources in Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.


Suggested categories under “Sources”:

  • Non-English Language News, World Library searches the entire LexisNexis collection of non-English news sources.
  • Deutsche Presse (German Language News)
  • Dutch Language News
  • Italian Language News Sources
  • Portuguese Language News, Combined
  • Spanish Language News, Combined
  • Toute la Presse - Francais

Factiva
News articles in European languages, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Turkish.

  1. Click on the Search tab
  2. Click on the + sign next to Language
  3. Click on the language (ex: French) you want to search.
    (Hint: click on English once to remove it from your search paramters).

Print Newpapers

Current Domestic and Foreign Newspapers at PCL
Paper copies of newspapers are in the PCL Periodicals Room, shelved by country.
