For important information on copyright compliance and fair use, see University of Texas Libraries Crash Course. See also University of Texas Libraries Reserves Policies.
Copyright ComplianceThe copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Copies for reserve use must be made in compliance with the "fair use" provisions of Section 107 and with the University of Texas System Policy Statement on Use of Copyrighted Materials.
Include Notice of CopyrightThe UT System policy requires that when you submit copies of a work published before March 1, 1989, such copies include any notice of copyright that appears in the original work. This will help readers determine whether the work is under copyright protection. If your submission does not include a copyright notice, the library will assume there was none in the original work.
