About Electronic Reserves
What is it?
Electronic reserves provides online access to library materials placed on
reserve by instructors for students enrolled in their courses. The University of
Texas Libraries uses ERes, a system designed specifically for electronic
reserves in academic libraries, to provide this service.
What are the advantages?
- Electronic reserves are available online to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when the library is closed.
- Instructors can easily make reserve materials available to students in their courses without leaving their home or office.
- Instructors can link to online resources provided by the University of Texas Libraries, or add their own materials by scanning them,
uploading them from their hard drives, or faxing them directly into the system.
- Instructors can comply with copyright law by limiting access to reserve materials to students in their courses.
- A single electronic copy is all that is needed for an entire class, no matter how large the class.
- ERes is fully compatible with Blackboard and other course management systems.
Who can participate?
Any instructor teaching a course for UT-Austin can participate.
