Non-UT Groups Instruction Request

As a large academic library we welcome the opportunity to work with students from the community. We will work within our constraints of staff availability and UT patron workload to accommodate outside groups. Please read over these guidelines and provide information about your group’s needs. We will consider your request and communicate with you via email about what services we can offer. We reserve the right to decline working with your groups when we are unable to accommodate your needs. UT students and faculty are our priority.

Group size
Due to limitations in equipment, classroom space, and staff availability, we must place boundaries on the group sizes that we can handle. We also ask that you bring one adult for every 10 students.

Scheduling
We can work together with a school representative to find a suitable date and time of day for your visit. Our workload varies with the semester, so some weeks are more flexible than others. Beginnings and ends of semesters tend to be busy, as well as the weeks when midterms are held. Please be prepared to negotiate the date you visit.
Please contact us at least two weeks in advance of your visit. More lead time is preferable to find the most suitable schedule for both parties.

Purpose of visit
Please let us know what your intended purpose is when scheduling a visit. If you are seeking a general overview and introduction to academic libraries for your group, this will be helpful to know as we plan for your visit. If your group has a specific assignment they will be working on, please provide the details of that assignment. Also, if you would like for us to cover a specific research tool or strategy in our lesson, please let us know.
