Information Literacy in Women’s Studies

In Fall 2004, the Women's Studies faculty convened a retreat to discuss the curriculum for the MA program. Students are required to take Foundations I the first semester, Foundations II the second semester, and Research Methods the third semester. Librarians created a plan for integrating information literacy into the curriculum through a combination of assignments and in-class instruction in a sequenced fashion and presented it at the retreat. A formal curriculum review committee, which included the Women's Studies Librarian as a member, was formed and the proposed information literacy integration plan was adopted beginning Fall 2006.
