Information Literacy in Music

In Spring 2005, librarians met with a Musicology faculty member to discuss integrating information literacy into the Music curriculum. The Music Department faculty are revising the undergraduate curriculum to require a sequence of three classes. Librarians will integrate a sequenced progression of information literacy skills into that revised curriculum through assignments. In addition, faculty are standardizing two graduate level courses – MUS 381 (Reference and Research Materials in Music) and MUS 381J (Foundations of Musicology). Librarians will work with faculty to revise the syllabi and create assignments and guides to teach information literacy concepts throughout each semester-long class.
