Document Sharing

Document Sharing provides copies and loans of UT Austin materials to international and national libraries, corporations, and organizations.

This service can be used by Non-OCLC participating institutions and libraries. All Texas public libraries and college level libraries may use this services free of charge.

Requests & Registration

First time users must complete our online Registration form to receive a Login ID. Once completed, you will receive an email with your assigned username and a temporary password.

After you have registered, you may submit loan and copy requests using our Lending Login online request form.

Copyright Compliance must be indicated on all article requests. If you do not have copyright compliance, we may be able to get permission on your behalf, adding the cost of compliance to the Document Sharing charges.

Loan periods are 56 days with no renewals.

Borrowed materials must be returned in a box. Please do not return The University of Texas at Austin items in Jiffy™ bag padded mailers.

  • Audio/Visual materials —including:
    • music CD's, LP's or cassettes
    • DVD's
    • VHS tapes
    • Some CD-ROMs
  • Bound or current serials
  • Special collection materials
  • Original newspapers
  • Rare or archival materials
  • Items in poor or fragile condition
Items that cannot be copied
  • Items in poor or fragile condition
  • Books or dissertations in their entirety

  • The Dolph Briscoe Center for American History is a closed archival collection at The University of Texas at Austin. We can provide copies and loans of certain materials but it will often take longer than the stated turnaround time.If you would like to place requests directly through the The Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, you may do so by email at cahref@uts.cc.utexas.edu or by phone at (512)495-4532.   • The Library Storage Facility is an off-campus repository. We can provide copies and loans of certain materials but it will often take longer than the stated turnaround time.
Electronic Holdings, Internet Resources & E-Books
  • Licensing restrictions prevent us from supplying materials from digital resources.

Fees, Payment & Delivery

Charges vary depending on institution type. Please, consult our Fees page for details.

Invoices will be included with the material, unless otherwise specified.

In most cases, requests placed before noon (CST) will be ready to ship the same day. If you would like an item by a certain time, please note the time and date on the request. We will inform you if we are unable to fill the request.

Articles are sent by email as a PDF attachment or by USPS mail if requested.

Standard shipping for corporate loans is UPS™ Ground.

ALL international loans ship USPS Priority Mail International. for details.

If you would like an expedited service level, please let us know. We can add the charges to your invoice, or you can provide an account number.
