Summer Privileges for Non-Enrolled Students
Access to Materials and Equipment
Students, Faculty, and Staff
These borrowers use their UT ID cards to check out materials. Students must be currently enrolled or qualify for summer privileges; faculty and staff must be currently appointed or retired.
Visiting Scholars and Staff
To activate their borrowing privileges, visiting scholars and departmental staff not appointed by the University present their UT ID and provide to Courtesy Borrower Services a letter from the University department with which they are affiliated showing the term of their stay.
Courtesy and Special Borrowers
All other borrowers obtain a borrowing card at Courtesy Borrower Services in the Perry-CastaƱeda Library.
Borrowing Materials
The circulation policies of the University of Texas Libraries are approved by the Vice Provost of the Libraries. Shorter than normal loan periods for individual items may be set by the bibliographer for that subject area or by instructors placing materials on reserve for class use. Special collections and reserve units may place a limit on the number of items a borrower may check out at any one time.
To help ensure that material is available to borrowers, most material checked out may be recalled or held for a requestor when it is returned to the library. Fines are assessed for the late return of both recalled and non-recalled items.
