Assistive Technology Locations

The Perry-Castañeda Library houses assistive technology for all UT Libraries patrons.

Assistive technology is available in two locations at PCL: in the Reference Room (on the main floor) and in the Assistive Technology Suite (on the third floor).

Assistive Technology Perry-Castañeda Suite

Location: Perry-Castañeda Library, PCL 4.104.

Access: A key to PCL 4.104 can be requested at the Check Out desk during regular hours.

Users: The Assistive Technology Suite is available to UT students, faculty and staff, on a first come, first served basis.

Equipment and Software

  • 1 Dell OptiPlex 760 running Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (3.00 GHz) with flat panel monitor.
  • Duxbury Braille Translator
  • Index Basic D Single Sided Braille Embosser with WinBraille Translator
  • Epson Color scanner with Epson Scan and Abby FineReader Software for OCR
  • Jaws Screen Reader 10.0
  • Zoom Text Screen Magnifier 9.1
  • TextAloud MP3 text reader/MP3 creator

Assistive Technology Perry-Castañeda Library Main Reference Room

Location: Perry-Castañeda Library, PCL 2.200.

Hours: The assistive technology equipment in the PCL Reference room is available for use while the library is open.

Users: Assistive Technology Equipment in PCL Reference is available to UT students, faculty, staff and public users with valid UTEID authorization, on a first come, first served basis.
