CREATE OR EDIT A BRAILLE DOCUMENT:
Duxbury for Windows, v. 10.1

  1. Open the Duxbury Braille Translator program:
    1. Press the "window" key (second from left on bottom row of keyboard) to activate the start menu.
    2. Press the down arrow to move down the start menu to the "Duxbury Braille Translator" program.
    3. Press the "enter" key to start the program.

  2. Open an existing Braille document or create a new Braille document:
    1. Open an existing Braille document:
      • Go to the Duxbury file menu using Alt-F.
      • Use the down arrow to move through a list of commands and select "open" by pressing the "enter" key.
      • The "Select Document File" window will open. The cursor will be in the "File name" box.
        • If you know the name of the file, type it in, tab to the "open" button and press enter.
        • If you do not know the name of the file, use the tab key and arrow keys to navigate the "Select Document File" window and find your file. Once you find your file, tab to the "open" button and press "enter."
        • If your file was created using another program and is not in Braille already, you will have to import the file and translate it. See the "Translate and Emboss" document for instructions.
    2. Create a new document:
      • Go to the Duxbury file menu using Alt-F .
      • The first choice in the list is "new." Select it by pressing the "enter" key.
      • A window with several options will appear. Use the down arrow key to change the document type from Print to Braille.
      • Tab to the "OK" button and press "enter."

  3. Edit or create the document in Regular mode:
  4. In Regular mode, keyboard keys correspond directly to Braille characters. If you press F, for example, a Braille "F" shows up in your document.
    (Note: Six-Key Mode is not available with this keyboard)

  5. Close the Duxbury program and shut off the computer when you are through.

Press Alt-H. "Help Topic" is the first choice in the list. Press "enter" to select it.
