Study Areas

We strive to make PCL an inviting place to study. Depending on whether you need to study with a group or individually, we recommend the following spots.

Quiet Study Areas

All public areas on floors 1, 3, 4, and 6 are designated quiet study areas. On the main floor of PCL (floor 2), the Reference Room (PCL 2.200) and the Periodicals Room (PCL 2.400) are also quiet study areas.

Collaborative Study Areas

Collaborative study areas are available throughout the building. The entire fifth floor, the UFCU Student Learning Commons (PCL 2.500), and the Learning Commons are designated collaborative study areas.

The Learning Commons contains numerous spaces for study and collaboration. The University Writing Center space is available as a study space after hours. Learning Labs are available as collaborative study spaces whenever they are not reserved for classes. Check room availability on the digital display outside each Learning Lab. In addition, flat panels in Learning Labs 2, 3, and 4 are available for group collaboration. Simply tap the digital panel inside each room on the left to turn on the screens and follow the instructions to connect wirelessly. The University Writing Center space is available as a study space after hours.

The UFCU Student Learning Commons (PCL 2.500) contains first-come, first-served study pods for groups.

The PCL Collaborative Commons, an area on the 5th floor renovated in August 2013, features ample access to outlets and robust wireless, a vibrant, stimulating atmosphere, a mix of seating options for groups of different sizes and three media:scape stations. Wall-mounted and rolling white boards are readily available to support study and problem-solving.

Group Study Rooms are available for reservation on floors 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6.  If your group needs to collaborate on a presentation or view media together, reserve one of the PCL Presentation Practice Rooms.  These rooms are equipped with TV screens and laptop connections; view the various types of equipment available to reserve a room that meets your needs.

Go to the Group Study Room page to make a reservation for either a Group Study or Presentation Practice Room.  Rooms fill quickly, especially during busy times of the semester, so book a room early.
