Laptops can be borrowed from the Perry-Castañeda Library's Circulation/Reserves Desk. To borrow a laptop you must be a student or member of the faculty or staff at the University of Texas at Austin and you must present a valid UT ID card. See this page for PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk hours.
Laptops may be checked out for twenty-four use, and may not be returned to any other service desk or library, or deposited in a book return. They must be returned to the PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk when it is open.
Please be aware that laptops checked out before a holiday break, will be due during the break, if PCL is open. Laptops are available on a first-come basis and may not be reserved. Laptops may not be renewed. Please note that any documents saved to the laptop will be deleted when the laptop is turned off or returned. You may check out a different laptop, after returning one, if any are available.
Laptops returned late will be billed for fines, fees and other charges in accordance with the library's policy. Borrowers who deposit laptops in book returns will incur an automatic charge for repair, as staff will have to examine the laptop for damage. Users who abuse laptop borrowing privileges may be barred from future laptop check out from PCL.
The laptop is your responsibility while it is checked out to you. Do not leave it unattended, even for a few seconds. Thefts are a common occurrence on campus.
Headphones, Ethernet cables and graphing calculators are also available for checkout from the PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk. They have a twenty-four hour loan period.
