Laptops can be borrowed from the Perry-Castañeda Library's Circulation/Reserves Desk. To borrow a laptop you must be a student or member of the faculty or staff at the University of Texas at Austin and you must possess and present a valid UT ID card.
Laptops may be checked out for overnight use, and must be returned to the PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk on the next day PCL is open, no later than one hour after the PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk opens. See this page for PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk hours.
Laptops checked out from PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk may not be returned to any other service desk or library. These laptops may not be deposited in book returns: they must be returned to the PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk when it is open.
During times of high demand or holiday/intersession periods, laptops may circulate on shorter loan periods to maximize availability.
Laptops are available on a first-come basis and may not be reserved. Laptops may not be renewed. Please be aware that any documents saved to the laptop will be deleted when the laptop is returned. You may check out a different laptop after returning one if any are available.
Laptops returned late will be billed for fines, fees and other charges in accordance with Libraries policy. Borrowers who deposit laptops in book returns will incur an automatic charge for repair, as staff will have to examine the laptop for damage.
The laptop is your responsibility while it is checked out to you. Do not leave it unattended, even for a few seconds. Thefts are a common occurrence on campus.
Headphones and graphing calculators are also available for checkout from the PCL Circulation/Reserves Desk. This equipment is due back the same day it is checked out, 45 minutes before the Desk closes.
