Computer Resources in Perry-Castañeda Library

Electronic Information Center
One hundred forty Microsoft Vista workstations on the entry level of PCL provide support for learning and research. An EID is needed to access the workstations and Bevo Bucks or a library print card can be used to pay for printing.

Use the Waiting List during peak demand for assignment to the first available free workstation. Sign in with your EID and once assigned a station you will have five minutes to claim it.

Borrowing Laptops
Laptop computers with Windows XP, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Office can be checked out from the Circulation/Reserves Desk. This service is availalbe to UT Austin students, faculty and staff. A valid UT ID is required.

Wireless Access
UTNet wireless access is available in selected areas on each level of PCL to students, faculty and staff with an EID.

Laptop Connections
To use the laptop ports in PCL you must have a laptop computer with a network interface card installed, an Ethernet cable and be a UT Austin student or faculty/staff member with an EID.

Assistive Technology
Technology to improve access to both print and electronic materials for users with disabilities is located inside the Reference Room on Level 2. This workstation contains the following equipment and software:

    Color Closed Circuit TV
    Jaws
    Kurzweil 1000 and 3000
    Zoom Text
    Internet Explorer
    Mozilla Firefox
    Microsoft Office
