African-American Church in Austin as a Mediating Structure

This report examines the Austin, Texas African American church's role in the African American community's struggle for social justice. In Austin, the African American church and community fight to receive equal services and resources from city government. This report will show the continued use of traditional African American Church roles in the community. The African American church provides information, leadership, and representation to the Austin African American community. The Austin African American church is a central place, sometimes neutral where the city of Austin and the African American community meet.
