RENEW items

Interlibrary Services at UT Libraries in Austin will obtain books or articles not owned by the Marine Science Library. The service is available to UT faculty, students and staff with a valid UT EID.

Before making any requests, verify material(s) by using the online catalog, Library Catalog, or the Electronic Journals page.

ILS Login (UT EID) - Place requests, check status, view articles.

User information profile only needs to be set up once (Name, MSI address, etc.)
For Location Status: must select DISTANCE LEARNER

When requesting book(s): leave the default as Main Campus Pickup Location PCL

Requested books will arrive at MSI's shipping/freighting office. Email is sent to the patron indicating a package has arrived. Please save the pre-paid mailing envelope that comes with the item. The mailer is addressed to the ILS office and postage has been paid for the patron. Or, the Marine Science Library will be more than happy to return any items.

Documents are delivered in PDF format via desktop. Patron receives email to "pick-up" the article.
Log in to ILS Login
Go to > Electronically Received Articles (left-hand column)

Interlibrary loan requests or document delivery can take anywhere from 2-5 days, depending on factors such as availability, location of institution, and the mail system. There is no guarantee that ALL materials will be received within a specified time period. Due dates vary with EACH lending library; patrons are responsible for returning materials when asked.

InterLibrary Services Lending

The Marine Science Library follows the same policies as other UT Libraries in Austin.

Requests for loans or photocopies should be submitted by OCLC.
