United States Department of Agriculture Soil Surveys

Soil surveys have been published by the United States Department of Agriculture for over 100 years. The Department has a listing of all surveys, including online editions, here: List of Soil Surveys by State

The University of Texas Libraries own most printed editions of these surveys, as well as a few in CD-ROM format.

Surveys for Texas:
Most Texas Soil Surveys are available in the Perry-Castañeda Library and the Walter Geology Library. Search the Library Catalog for holdings.
To find a specific survey in the Library Catalog, type the county and state names as a Title Keyword Search.
Example: TK Travis Texas Soil Survey
