Objective: To find articles about the uses of sumatriptan in the treatment of cluster headaches.
The search terms are "sumatriptan" and "cluster headaches".
One method is to treat the search terms as "keywords" and search using the default fields. This method will look for the terms in the abstract, citation, and descriptors (subject headings). Keep in mind that a "keyword" search is the broadest way of searching. It is a good idea to start with a keyword search - if the search retrieves too many results, then focus the search to limit the results. Below is an example of a keyword search - notice the use of the * (asterisk) to include both "headache" and "headaches".
The above keyword search retrieved 11 results, which is a manageable number of results to browse through. However, sometimes your search may retrieve several pages of results - too many to look through at once.
Another search method is to use the drop-down menus to focus your search, as in the example below. "Cluster headache" is treated as a subject heading in this search.
Enter your search terms and execute
the search by clicking on the search button; the results will display at the
bottom of the screen. The results are displayed in citation format that contains
bibliographic information including article title, authors, journal title, date
of publication, and page numbers.
To
view the abstract of the record for further information, click on the article
title.
For example, below is the beginning of the abstract for Result #1, A practical approach to headache treatment.
The abstract helps you determine if the article meets your needs. The descriptors (subject headings) can provide ideas to refine the search, if necessary.
Notice the options to Print, Email, Save, and Add to Folder. Abstracts can be printed, emailed, or saved individually - or you can add citations & abstracts to the folder and print, email, or save items as a batch.
