Indiana Jones & Apocalypto
September 24, 2008
Place holder
Science Study Break-Gattaca
A lively crowd gathered to view scenes from the first three Indiana Jones movies, then hear Dr. Lauri McInnis Martin, of the Department of Anthropology, discuss the flaws in Indy's archaeological methods. In response to audience interest, Dr. Martin shared tales of her own time in the field. She also referred to scenes from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Mel Gibson's Apocalypto to point out some implicit assumptions about technology in indigenous cultures.
