Updated regularly. Includes more than 1,000 U.S. historical newspapers published between 1690 and 1922, including titles from all 50 states. Search by dates/eras, article types (news & opinion, election returns, letters, poetry/songs, legislative, prices, advertisements, matrimony & death notices), region/state, and newspaper name.

Based on 3 series of Early American Newspapers, portions of which are available in microfilm.

Series 1, 1690-1876, offers more than 700 historical American newspapers from 23 states and the District of Columbia printed between 1690 and 1876. Focuses largely on the 18th century.

Series 2, 1758-1900, offers more than 200 significant newspapers published between 1820 and 1860 when the number of American newspapers rose dramatically.

Series 3, 1829-1922, offers more than 125 significant newspaprs from the 19th and 20th century. Coverage includes the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the Progressive Era.
