Events and Meals |
Come to Texas Immersion and experience our Houston hospitality. All meals and events are included in the registration fee.
Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner and two daily breaks. Participants may have a full hot breakfast in the dorm cafeteria and coffee and juice will be waiting for them when they arrive at their morning session. The morning break may include breakfast pastries or tacos. Lunches will change each day and will include either cafeteria-style, buffet or catered box lunches. Afternoon breaks include healthy and sweet snacks as well as drinks. Dinners are either in the cafeteria or at one of the following events. Dinner on Friday, July 14 is on your own.
We have a full schedule of social events that will give you opportunities to relax and recharge.
Opening Reception
Friday, July 14, 2006 from 7:30-9:00
Let us welcome you in style at the opening reception in the M.D. Anderson Library's new Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion. Meet fellow participants, Immersion faculty, and your local hosts. Listen to the Glenn Ackerman Jazz Trio, eat fabulous desserts catered by the French Corner, and enjoy a glass of beer or wine at the open bar.
Texas Bar-B-Que and Pool Party

Enjoy tasty Bar-B-Que with all the fixings catered pool-side while listening to a steel drum band. Join in a game of sand volleyball, try the waterslide, or just relax in the 20-person hot tub. Now this is Immersion Texas-style!
Gala Dinner

Relax while we transport you to the Cullen Hall of Gems and Minerals at the Houston Museum of Science. Wander around one of the world's finest collections of gems and minerals while enjoying passed hors d'oeuvres and the open bar. Dine among the glittering gems while enjoying sparkling conversation and the music of Lonestar. The menu promises to rival the elegant setting - just make sure you leave room for dessert!
Farewell Game Night

We've reserved the University Center Game Room to give you an opportunity to say goodbye while enjoying some bowling or pool. A cash bar will be open.
Optional Pre-Immersion Activity: Lunch and Museum Visit
Friday, July 14, 2006 from 11am – 3pm
Join fellow Immersion participants for lunch at a tasty Mexican restaurant in the Museum District. Following lunch we will visit the Menil Collection to view the world-renowned museum of art. The museum houses the private collection of John and Dominique de Menil and focuses on Antiquity, Byzantine and Medieval, Tribal, and Twentieth-Century Art.
$40/person – Cost includes transportation and lunch.
