  1. Bahrain Center for Human Rights

    In English. Formed in 2002, the BCHR promotes freedoms and basic rights (civil, political and economic), combating racial discrimination, the dissemination of human rights culture, and contributing in providing support and protection for victims and the vulnerable in Bahrain. Its activities include advocacy, training, workshops, seminars, media campaigns, reporting to UN mechanisms and international NGOs and participating in international conferences and workshops. The government attempted to close the organization in 2004, but BCHR remains open after receiving both internal and external support. BCHR president Abd al-Hadi Khawaja arrested in early 2007; VP Nabeel Rajab summoned for questioning regarding violating a gag order on a report of rigged elections in November 2006. Its activities include consultation, dissemination of information, facilitating international exchange, supporting a program of small grants to human rights work in China, research assistance and other services. Site contains news articles on human rights and activists, research, media, and the 2008 Olympics.

DCTCRS is a Sweden-based non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to defend and promote civil liberties as well as human, economic, social and cultural rights around the world with focus on Syria. Organization conducts research, polling, and field studies, and organizes large conferences for free exchange of ideas.

Formed in 1991, EHRCO is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works towards building a democratic system, promotes rule of law and due process, and encourages and conducts human rights monitoring. Site contains documents for download, photos, and information on the organization.

  8. Free Cuba Foundation

    In English. Free Cuba Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Miami that aims towards the establishment of an independent and democratic Cuba using non-violent means. Site contains background information, a news archive, videos, list of human rights violations and political prisoners in Cuba, and a lecture series by Thomas P. Ray.

GYLA is a Georgia-based non-governmental organization that aims to promote the rule of law and democratic practices in Georgia and protect human rights and freedoms in Georgia using the rule of law. Members have received threats from unknown persons and have been accused by government of misusing foreign funds and politicizing; organization believes this in retaliation for their criticism of certain governmental practices.
