    In English. Formed in 1990, SAACID (meaning 'to help' in Somali) is a non-governmental organization with offices in Somalia and Australia. Their aim is to increase life options for women, children, and the poor.

  2. South Asia Forum for Human Rights

    In English. Human rights coalition with 35 partner organizations and offices in Nepal, Pakistan, and India. Formed in 1990, SAFHR promotes respect for universal values of human rights, the interdependence of rights and the indivisibility of rights. Some of its core concerns of the human rights and peace agenda are displacement of indigenous peoples and minorities, refugees and migrants, impunity, inter-state and intra-state conflicts and peace accords, militarization and the strengthening of peace constituencies in civil society. It works with two particular constituencies - women and the media- to strengthen their peace and human rights building capacities.

  3. The Balkan Human Rights Web Pages

    In English and Greek. This website provides a platform for a variety of regional human rights organizations. It provides materials on news and issue areas across the region, but divided into country areas.

  4. Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Liberia

    In English. Includes photos, videos, mp3s, maps, reports, hearings, press releases, newsletters and news items related to Liberian civil war that occurred from 1979-2003. Users may also upload their own photos and testimonies for the website. The TRC also works with the Liberian diaspora in the U.S. and West Africa.

  5. United Nations Organization Mission in DR Congo

    In English and French. Determined in 2000 according to a UN security council resolution, the UN peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of Congo's mandate includes facilitation of humanitarian assistance and human rights monitoring, with particular attention to vulnerable groups including women, children and demobilized child soldiers. Site contains photographs, newsletters, maps, and press releases for download, audio and video clips, and press coverage.

  6. Vigilance Soudan

    In French and English. Maintained by a group of former residents of Sudan. Contains French and English publications of newsletter "Viglance Soudan" as well as news bulletins, links, maps, and chronology of events related to Sudan.

    In English, French, Arabic, Russian, Chinese (traditional and simplified). Contains news organized by region and subject, downloadable publications, action alerts, and presentations. International solidarity network that extends to 70 countries ranging from South Africa to Uzbekistan, Senegal to Indonesia and Brazil to France. Offices in the United Kingdom, Senegal and Pakistan.
