Website of CIEPAC, a non-governmental, civil organization founded in 1998 in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico with the mandate to carry out research and analysis of the economic, political, social, and human rights conditions in Chiapas, in order to offer its findings to diverse social groups working for peace and searching for feasible and sustainable development alternatives in Chiapas, Mexico and abroad.

  2. Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas / Center for Human Rights Fray Bartolomé de las Casas [Mexico]

    In English and Spanish. Website of Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas (Frayba) Center for Human Rights, a non-profit civil organization. Founded in 1989 through the initiative of Samuel Ruiz García, catholic bishop of the Diocese of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Frayba works in defense and promotion of human rights, especially for the indigenous villages and communities in the state of Chiapas, Mexico.

  3. Centro Feminista de Estudos e Assessoria / Center for Feminist Studies and Consultancy [Brazil]

    In Portuguese and English. Contains articles, links, list of PDF publications, and events calendar related to human rights, women's rights (health, sexuality, work, violence) and racial/ethnic discrimination. CFEMEA is a non-governmental organization based in Brasilia, Brazil.

  4. Chronicles of Turkmenistan

    In Turkmen, Russian, English. The Helsinki Group of Turkmenistan was founded in July 2002 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. The group was forced to operate underground but nevertheless its members were systematically persecuted and repressed by the Turkmen authorities, and finally were forced to go into exile.
    The Turkmen Initiative for Human Rights (TIHR), the successor organization, was established as an independent public organization and registered in November 2004 in Vienna, Austria. The site contains materials on specific subject areas such as freedom of speech and assembly and the rights of ethnic minorities. In addition, articles, news and general reports on human rights are available.

  5. Comité de Familiares de Detenidos Desaparecidos en Honduras / Committee of Family Members of the Detained and Disappeared in Honduras

    In Spanish. COFADEH is a non-governmental organization founded in the 1980s to support the families of people "disappeared" by the Honduran government. The organization conducts legal advocacy work to counter legal impunity of perpetrators, and COFADEH manages a documentation center with testimonies of family members of the disappeared.

  6. Consultoría para los Derechos Humanos y el Desplazamiento / Consultants for Human Rights and Displacement [Colombia]

    In Spanish. Formed in 1992, CODHES is a non-governmental organization that promotes human rights in Colombia, with a special emphasis in assisting those who have been violently displaced by the internal conflict and state violence. Contains bulletins, statistics, reports, list of publications, calendar of events, and links to other resources.

  7. Damascus Center for Theoretical and Civil Rights Studies [Syria]

    In Arabic and English. DCTCRS is a Sweden-based non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to defend and promote civil liberties as well as human, economic, social and cultural rights around the world with focus on Syria. Organization conducts research, polling, and field studies, and organizes large conferences for free exchange of ideas.

    In Norwegian and English. (Content not identical in both languages) The committee is one of 44 Helsinki Committees throughout Europe. The website includes photographs and video, particularly of freedom of speech violations, as well as news, publications and resources for NGOs seeking funding.

  9. Ethiopian Human Rights Council

    In English. Formed in 1991, EHRCO is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works towards building a democratic system, promotes rule of law and due process, and encourages and conducts human rights monitoring. Site contains documents for download, photos, and information on the organization.

  10. Helsinki Association: human rights are above state and national interests [Armenia]

    In English, Armenian, Russian. Organization focuses on human rights in Armenia, especially soldiers' and voters' rights, legal rights, and religious freedom. Contains news, reports, surveys, and photographs. Armenian government has been harassing NGOs dealing with democracy in Armenia since last election. Leader of group was shot by member of Armenian parliament, who later boasted about the incident on television without reprisal.
