Validation/IP Validation - Verification by a database vendor that a user is connecting through an Internet address that is authorized by the vendor or database supplier to use a database.  See Also: Authentication, Proxy Service

Virtual Library - Usually refers to electronic information sources available within the library or remotely accessible.  

Volume - A grouping of periodical issues in chronological order over a specified period of time.  Periodicals are often assigned one volume number per year, but there can be more than one volume per year, especially if the periodical is published weekly.
