Getting Started

Looking for an alternative approach to your assigned text?

Studying for comps?

Want to explore an area before you plunge in and take a class?

The following list contains a variety of basic texts in the sub-disciplines of the earth sciences - some classics, some brand new.  It is not intended to be a comprehensive list, but we hope there will be something to meet your needs in each area.

All of these texts are located in the Walter Geology Library. In any given semester, some of them will be on Course Reserves for classes. Check the library catalog for availability before you go to the shelf to find the texts. Electronic resources can be found through Databases or Find a Journal.
