Death Metal at the Fine Arts Library:
Despite having over 40,000 compact discs, the Fine Arts Library lacks a representative selection of recordings in a few musical genres. Case in point: death metal (and related sub-genres). On learning of this lacuna last year a trio of visitors decided to remedy the situation and has been supplying us with some choice examples, including, so far, these groups: At the Gates, Bolt Thrower, Emperor, Judas Priest, Suffocation, Speckmann Project. As befits our eclectic collecting habits, these groups are from Sweden, the U.K., Norway, and the USA. Donations from individuals of CDs of otherwise under-represented genres are always welcome.
