The Fine Arts Library has three seminar rooms available for library instruction sessions, classes, meetings, and for viewing videos/DVDs. The rooms are for the exclusive use of University of Texas faculty, staff, and students with preference given to persons affiliated with the University of Texas Libraries or the College of Fine Arts, and groups wishing to view FAL media.
A room can be reserved for a one-time event or for an entire semester. Bookings must be made and confirmed at least 24 hours prior to the event/class. Rooms that are not booked may be used for group study or media viewing on an as-needed, as-available basis (ask at the Circulation Desk).
When reserving and using a seminar room, library users must adhere to the following policies:
1. RESERVATIONS
To check the availability of a room please go to: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/fal/services/room_reservations.html
and click on the “Check For Room Availability” link. Find the appropriate room (DFA 4.102, 4.110. 4.112) and click on “Check for Room Availability.” On the right-hand side of the page is the reservation form. Complete all required fields and boxes, noting equipment requirements in the “Additional Information” space. Press “Submit Reservation.”
A reservation is a request until it is confirmed by the room scheduler.
The Library reserves the right to reassign or cancel reservations to assure the maximum and most appropriate utilization of its rooms. As much notice as possible will be given should reassignment be necessary.
2. ROOM USE
Rooms are kept locked. Ask at the FAL Circulation Desk just before the start of the reservation period for staff to open the assigned room. Drinks are permitted only if their containers have spill-proof tops. Food can be served only with prior consent from the Head Librarian. Rooms can only be used during the library’s hours of operation and must be vacated 5 minutes before closing. Please make sure the reserved room is locked upon leaving.
3. ROOM EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE
Each room has multiple media and computer options available. Please inform the room scheduler at the time of request exactly what equipment will be needed. Tables and chairs may be re-arranged but please return the furniture to its original arrangement.
