Printing, Computers, and Equipment

Wireless Access is available throughout the library

Printing is available from all of our stations, including color printing. To print you will need a copy card which can be purchased on the 3rd floor of the FAL. Cost per page is .13 for black-and-white and .80 for color.

Bevo Bucks accepted at the printing station at the west end of the row of computers nearest the current periodicals.

  • 15 PCs with DVD/CD-RW drives including Vista, Office 2007 Suite, Adobe Creative Suite
  • 10 Macs with DVD/CD-RW drives including OS X Office XP Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, iTunes, iMovie

Multimedia stations (Students, Faculty and staff only)

  • Audio editing stations:
    • 1 each Mac and PC, same configuration as above plus Audacity software, DAT, cassette and M-Audio input interface.
  • MIDI stations:
    • 1 each Mac and PC, same configuration as above plus Sibelius and Finale.
  • Video editing stations:
    • 2 Macs same configuration as above plus DVD +/- R, RW drives with Final Cut Express and iDVD. Hardware includes S-VHS deck and Mini DV deck.
  • Scanning stations:
    • 1 PC same configuration as above plus PhotoScore scanning program. Hardware includes flatbed and slide scanners.
    • 2 Macs same configuration as above plus score scanning program. One includes flatbed scanner and the other has 2 slide scanners that allow batch scanning, negative strip and large format negative scanning.

Listening and Viewing stations

  • TVs with built-in DVD/VHS players. In addition one has S-VHS and Worldwide player attached. Another has LaserDisc and U-Matic players attached.
  • 1 Listening/Dubbing station with turntable, dual cassette, and CD player.

Laptop Checkout @ FAL

The Fine Arts Library Circulation Desk has Dell and Mac laptops available for checkout to students, faculty, and staff with a current UT ID card. Laptops are checked out on a first-come, first-served basis and may be used both inside and outside the library. Only one laptop may be checked out per person.

Once checked out, the laptops are the borrower's responsibility. The borrower will be held liable for any replacement costs associated with damage, loss or theft of the laptop or laptop equipment. Please do not leave a laptop unattended, as thefts occur on campus.

Laptops are available for overnight checkout. Laptops must be returned to the FAL Circulation Desk 24 hours after they are checked out. Please keep in mind that if a laptop is not returned on time, fines will accrue and a processing fee will be charged. Contact the FAL Circulation Desk at 495-4481 with questions or concerns.

Hardware and Software

Dell Latitude D610 laptops with Windows XP operating system, Microsoft Office XP, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer are available for check out. The laptops have wireless network capabilities, 512 MB RAM, and a DVD/CD-RW drive.

Online Access: Wireless access is available throughout the Fine Arts Library.
