The FAL is proud to present the recent work submitted by UT art and design students. Designed by Prof. Leslie Mutchler for 304K Two-Dimensional Design, the "Visible Cities" project is intended to challenge a student's color-mixing skills, gouache technique, knowledge of color terminology and spatial creativity. Inspired by Italio Calvino's text "Visible Cities", each student creates images of four cities, each city on a separate 10" x 10" illustration board. In addition, each panel incorporates at least one of the Seven Color Contrasts proposed by legendary Bauhaus painter and theorist Johannes Itten.
